Founded in 1968 by Kuniyasu Hosoda, Fukutoku Corporation has been manufacturing a wide variety of gloves, specializing in a nonslip palm style. Demand for these gloves has been strong in many fields such as: handling cargo, driving, agricultural work and the construction industry. As mentioned above, our main products are work gloves, though we also manufacture brand-name gloves and gloves featuring popular logos and distribute them throughout Japan. In 1985, we invested in a spinning company named Hakko Spinning Co.,Ltd. and we hanged the company name to Ekiya Corporation. Since then we have operated it as our subsidiary. Ekiya Corporation has reinforced its spinning section by replacing old machinery and bought many kinds of glove-knitting machines for the knitting section in order to meet the demands of the customers. �@ In November 1999, we opened Tebukuroya (glove shop) in one of the biggest online shopping malls in Japan, called Rakuten Ichiba. This allows us to sell a wide range of gloves online, such as gloves used for fashion, sports and formal occasions, not to mention working gloves. In September 2000, we also opened Uniformya (uniform shop) in Rakuten Ichiba. We integrated these two companies under one name of Uniformya. Now Uniformya deals with multipurpose uniforms as well as gloves to satisfy our online customers. In July 2000, Kuniyasu Hosoda, former COO and president, became CEO and chairman and his brother Nobuhiko Hosoda moved into his position. Today we are expanding our business by distributing not only gloves, but also socks to wholesalers and retailers. At the same time, in response to a growing number of environmentally conscious customers, we have been manufacturing gloves from PET bottles and recycled clothes.
